Matt Gillett has been welcomed back from injury by Brisbane for Thursday's crucial round-21 NRL clash with the Sydney Roosters.

Gillett hasn't played since injuring his shoulder in State of Origin II and was due for another fortnight on the sidelines but coach Wayne Bennett has brought him back early.

In other news as teams were named on Tuesday afternoon for round 21: Ray Thompson replaces Johnathan Thurston at halfback for North Queensland, Tuimoala Lolohea will start at fullback for the Warriors and Robbie Farah remains in reserve grade for the Wests Tigers.
