Referees Gerard Sutton and Ben Cummins have been retained for State of Origin III.

The duo refereed game one and game two of the series.

After resisting efforts from NSW coach Laurie Daley to have them sacked after the Blues game loss, Sutton and Cummins refereed game two in Brisbane last month and will do so again at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday week.

NRL referees boss Tony Archer said it was a deserved reward for the game's leading whistleblowers.

"Gerard and Ben have performed well throughout the series and have continued to do so in the premiership," Archer said.

"They have been the best and most consistent referees this season and deserve to officiate in the final Origin game."

Sutton will serve as the lead referee with Cummins assisting.

Bernard Sutton will man the bunker for the final Origin fixture of the year, with Luke Patten and Ashley Klein assisting him.

Jeff Younis and Michael Wise will be the touch judges in Sydney on July 13 and Gavin Badger is the standby referee.
